Live camera only
No gallery, no old screenshots. The photo has to be taken now, inside the real window.
In development · Android first
SolatLah locks the apps that pull you away. During each JAKIM prayer window you can open them again by taking a live photo: a short pause to remember your prayer.
How it works
Pick the apps that distract you and your JAKIM prayer zone. Phone, Settings and your home screen are never locked.
Open a locked app and SolatLah steps in front of it, with the next waktu and a countdown.
During the prayer window, take a live camera photo. Your apps open for 15 minutes (you choose), then lock again by themselves.
The prayer window
Each waktu opens an unlock window until the next one begins. Subuh closes at Syuruk, so there is no unlock mid-morning. Drag the time to try it.
Built with care
No gallery, no old screenshots. The photo has to be taken now, inside the real window.
Photos live in the app’s private folder and are never uploaded. Delete one, or all, any time.
Prayer times are cached on the device. The unlock works with no signal.
A small weekly quota (2 by default) for real emergencies. At least one is always kept, so you are never locked out.
Automatic time must be on, and the clock can’t be wound back to sneak into a window.
After your unlock time, apps lock again. Blocking comes back after a reboot, too.
See this week’s unlocks grouped by day, each with its photo, so you can reflect on your habits.
Switch language any time, even on the lock screen. Follow your phone’s theme or pick one.
An honest note
The photo is a moment of intention, not proof. What makes it work is friction: it must be live, and it must be taken inside the real JAKIM prayer window, so an old picture or a Subuh unlock at 3pm won’t do.
The rest is between you and Allah. SolatLah just helps you put the phone down and remember.
Where it’s at
Blocking, the prayer-window unlock, emergency unlocks, reboot recovery and unlock history are built. Final polish and a real-phone check come before release.
Blocking on iPhone uses Apple’s Screen Time API, which needs Apple’s Family Controls approval. It will follow once that’s in place.
Questions
Use an emergency unlock. You get a small number each week (you choose 1 to 7; 2 by default), and at least one is always kept. Phone, Settings and your home screen are never locked.
No. Photos are saved in the app’s private folder on your phone and are excluded from cloud backup. You can delete one photo or all of them in Unlock history.
JAKIM times for your zone, via api.waktusolat.app. They are cached on the phone, so the unlock works offline once they’ve been downloaded.
Yes. SolatLah is a commitment tool, not a parental lock. It adds friction you choose for yourself, and you can turn blocking off in the app.
Yes. Unlock time can be 5 to 60 minutes (15 by default), and you can add a buffer of up to 30 minutes after each waktu ends.
SolatLah is still being built, Android first. It will come to Google Play once testing on real phones is done; iPhone follows after Apple’s approval.
